[VELA] Middle DevOps Engineer
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
A Middle DevOps Engineer ensures stable, scalable, and efficient software infrastructure while collaborating with developers and operations. They build automated processes to improve deployment speed and product quality. With AI/ML skills, they optimize CI/CD pipelines, predict system issues, and enhance resource management. This role drives smarter, more resilient, and future-ready infrastructures.
RESPONSIBILITY
– Promote process automation where possible.
– Support the implementation of security measures and risk assessments.
– Manage incidents and root cause analysis.
– Participate in building, improving, and maintaining appropriate CI/CD tools and pipelines.
– Comply with VELA’s software development standards.
– Ensure compliance with customer security and compliance requirements.
– Report technical risks and dependencies to project management.
– Support the AI team when needed: deploy AI models, set up GPU environments, and monitor AI services.
– Build small AI prototypes for internal use during spare time.
EXPERIENCE
– College/University degree in IT, Telecommunications, or equivalent.
– 1–3 years of experience in System Operation / IT Infrastructure, familiar with Linux/Windows server administration, networking, and security.
– 1–2 years of practical experience in DevOps or related software engineering role, with exposure to CI/CD and automation.
– Hands-on experience with GitLab, Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes.
– Knowledge of configuring and managing databases (MySQL, MongoDB…).
– Understanding of open-source tools and cloud services.
– Experience with Python and frameworks such as FastAPI, Streamlit, or Flask.
– Scripting experience in Python, Bash (and optionally PowerShell, Groovy, or Go) for automation and CI/CD pipelines
– Basic understanding of the ML lifecycle: training → testing → deployment.
– Familiarity with FastAPI, Streamlit, or Flask to wrap AI models as APIs.
– Experience with Hugging Face or OpenAI API is a plus.
– Experience in project management is preferable.
– Strong troubleshooting experience, ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
– Ability to work in a team and coordinate with other departments.
