Classification Of Warehouse Models In Vietnam

Warehouse is an essential part of the supply chain as well as logistics services. To small and large businesses, acquiring knowledge of warehouses will help them to choose the appropriate warehouse services and make preparation for procedures and costs of renting warehouses. There are many ways to classify warehouses. In this post, warehouses are classified into 2 groups: Types of goods and Function.


 
Classified by types of goods:
  • Warehouses for raw materials, semi-finished product
  • Warehouses for finished goods.
 
Classified by function:
  • DC (Distribution center): Its main function is to store and distribute domestic goods, as well as perform value added services.
  • Bonded warehouse: a place separated from surrounding areas for temporary storage, preservation or implementation of a number of services for domestic and foreign goods brought into warehouses.
  • CFS (Container Freight Station): A station or warehouse where a number goods or products are stored to be shipped together in one or more containers.
  •  Bonded factory: A warehouse that is bonded and licenced under the Customs and Excise Act and in which goods may be kept and secured without the payment of duty or until the requirements of the Act have been satisfied and includes any store, house, shed or other place in which goods are kept accordingly.
  • Cross-docking warehouse: products are moved directly from receivables to outgoing shipping without long-term storage.
  •  Cool storage: warehouse used to store fresh and frozen perishable fruits or vegetables, meat, seafood, dairy products, or fowl, or any combination thereof, at a desired temperature to maintain the quality of the product.
